Be careful. They will not give you the time of day once you provide a deposit, and do not expect to get it back. They hide the ball on "expenses" and will ignore you once you have moved out. They prey on students who rent their locations and bet against being challenged. Not the types of people I want to do business with.

I have been coming to Newport every year for the last 10 years for a summer vacation. This is the first time I rented from Balboa Newport Realty. This is the first time I have NOT received my full deposit. We are a responsible family and left the property with no damage and clean. Do yourselves a favor and rent from Burr White. Lesson learned. I should have read the reviews.

Terrible service, communication, and process. Very unorganized and delayed at getting back to you. Customer service is the last of their priority.

We are halfway though our nine month "winter rental" with BNR, and thus far have received great service. They are always friendly, they helped us (successfully) negotiate our rent price with our landlord, and they respond to maintenance requests immediately. Over the past five months, we have had a few small issues around our house (water heater, a leak, etc.) and they literally send someone over to address issues within a few hours. I feel like they do a great job keeping their tenants safe and comfortable while also maintaining the properties well for the home owners.

Wow. Is a negative rating possible? I just had a horrible experience with 2 ladies at this Real Estate company. I decided to check Yelp reviews after 2 very unpleasant conversations. I am a trained counselor, and intentionally maintained a quiet and respectful tone during 2 torturous conversations. I was looking to rent a place on the Peninsula - an apartment neighboring my dear friends' who know the tenants of the potential rental.

Both women at BNR insisted that only a group showing was possible in 3 days and I would have to wait. As a long time resident of the area, I am very familiar with the rental market and know how rare and how quickly such properties are rented. I asked if since my friends know the tenants (and I informed them that I had met them on Saturday) could I arrange a private viewing and submit an application.

Both women were very rude and insisted that they could not make exceptions and that they didn't have time to argue with me. I did not argue. Shanna was the 2nd, and I assume senior realtor who I did the 2nd conversation with. Both were horrible! And, Shanna used incorrect grammar, which is appalling in and of itself. I can't imagine that owners would want these women managing their properties. I am disgusted.

Not going to lie, did not have the most positive experience with this company. I have a bunch of friends who are looking to live in newport, and I tell all of them to steer clear of this company. Wouldn't even recommend as a last resort.

If I could give them a negative star I would. Most unethical, dishonest human beings I've ever had the displeasure of "working with". If you value your home, bank account or sanity. Stay away from these demonic people.

When I attended UCI, I went through BNR to lease an apartment in Newport Beach. I distinctly remember the first time I walked into their office. "Ugh, can I help you.?" Well, we're off to a good start, aren't we? Shocking as it may be, young adults such as myself are capable of renting property. I'm fairly certain an older patron would not be greeted in such a manner. However, the brunt of my discontent lies not with BNR, but rather with my landlord.

I thought the BNR staff was patronizing, but had no idea that Carmen Rawson would take the term to a whole new level. Despite treating her with the utmost respect, paying rent in a timely manner, maintaining the integrity of the property, and never having the police called on us, Carmen always found something to moan about. Do you see the speck of dirt in the corner? Did you notice the dust behind the refrigerator?

I understand that Carmen likely had poor experiences with past college students and was weary about renting her property to us. However, she failed to understand that people actually need to live. Her expectations for the apartment were not only unreal, but borderline delusional. I certainly did not appreciate her condescending tone and general lack of friendliness.

I also didn't appreciate getting reamed on my security deposit. Thanks for charging me for the paint job that was wholly unrelated to my lease. I had absolutely zero effect on the "wear and tear" of the apartment's exterior. There were numerous other frivolous deductions, but I didn't feel like drawing the matter out any further. Sorry I'm not sorry.
