Berkshire Housing Services Inc. (BHSI) was established in 1972 by Berkshire Housing Development Corporation, a Berkshire County based housing and community development organization, to serve as the property manager and ensure the long term maintenance and financial viability of rental communities it developed. Since that time BHSI has grown into a highly skilled professional property management company which oversees 25 communities throughout Berkshire County and northwest Connecticut.

We employ approximately 50 people including 4 professional property managers, professional accountants, experienced bookeepers, skilled building and grounds staff, construction managers and a dedicated central office support staff that ensure that timely service is always provided.
Services
The mission of Berkshire Housing Development Corporation (BHDC) is to improve the quality of life for residents of Berkshire County by increasing affordable housing opportunities; delivering community development programs and projects; and operating a professional management company. Berkshire Housing Development Corporation (BHDC) is a private non profit organization that serves all of Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
Our HCEC offers answers to a wide range of questions about all types of housing problems. Tenants, landlords, prospective buyers, and homeowners can access information designed to maximize housing stability, strengthen investments, and minimize disputes. We help individuals and families to find and retain affordable housing and we are Pittsfield's largest provider of rental voucher assistance, serving the homeless, the elderly, the disabled, and low and moderate income residents of the Berkshires.
The purpose of rental assistance is to help low-income households secure decent rental housing by providing assistance that fills the gap between the family's ability to pay and total housing costs. In most programs, participating households must find housing that meets program requirements on the private rental market.
Berkshire Housing uses Assistance Connect as a portal for document and forms to be submitted securely and directly to your online agency account. Here you can submit forms and check your status. You are an Applicant if you have not yet been issued a Section 8 Voucher and/or have not yet signed a lease.
