I wish I could give no stars. Since day 1 I have had horrible experience. My apartment building is so disgusting and unsanitary. Nothing in my apartment was cleaned before I moved in like stated it would be. I have cockroaches in my kitchen. Security doors don't work so anyone can come into the building. Have had a few incidents of people coming in being violent and have had to involve the police.

Management doesn't care. I've only had to use my security door key once since I moved in (over a month ago) I asked to move locations because I don't feel safe in this building and goldmark refuses. Will never be going through them again. Don't waste your time and money into this company.

Been renting from Goldmark for almost 2 years and it is the worst place to rent. 1. My toilet barely functioned for half a year because nobody would come and look at it. It was like that when I moved in. 2. The shelf's built into my shower are slanted and anything I try to put on them, they just slid off. 3. They tried making me pay $580 because they said I was late on rent.

They were just to lazy to check. I rolled in there with bank statements because I'm sure they were trying to evict me. Which is illegal, you have to wait 30 days until you can evict someone. Then give 30 more days for them to leave. 4. Every time I've came into the office or I call with with questions, the ladies there are always super snarky and give me unnecessary attitude. 5.

I feel really unsafe in my apartment complex, because I've been catcalled by men in the parking lot telling me to hope in there car and "they can show me a good time".this was at 10AM. Also, you're telling me I need to pay $300 plus $550 each month just to terminate my lease early? I can still just pay $550 each month and save $300. Goldmark is pretty scummy and will try to squeeze every penny out of you. It's sucks because they own half of the properties in Grand Forks.

This place is UNBELIEVABLE, and not in a good way. First they say we owe for an extra month because they require 60 days notice and we only gave 44 (see previous comment). OK, fine, I think that is ludacris, but fine, we did not read the fine print. Now they say because we went to month to month (again, not by choice) we owe more because of it. INSANE!

I have NEVER EVER dealt with such a poorly run organization EVER. I cannot stress this enough, avoid this place at all costs. Zero starts for this place is too high, I am disappointed in myself for giving them 1 star last time. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!

I'll add to this 1.0 rating. Unless you know what the future holds I wouldn't rent here! They want a 60 day notice to vacate even if your lease is up! They've known since February 23rd we were moving out and today is March 30th and they still don't have our unit rented but it hasn't been advertised so we're responsible for April rent!

We were out March 15th (lease up Marxh 31st) so they've had PLENTY of time to advertise, show and get it rented. To add to it the police made frequent visits to the neighbors we shared the building with so thats always nice. I was notified yesterday that we'll get our deposit back in late May.

I would give 0 stars but that's not an option. We gave them our non renewal notice the end of February (they require a two month notice) so we could move out the end of March and then we would pay for April even though we were not living there. They never got back to us about signing the paperwork until the beginning of March. Goldmark would not respect our original notice even though they were the ones who never got back to us.

They wanted us to pay for another month of rent. After discussing it with them, one of their employees said they would honor it. It's now September and we suddenly owe them for an extra month's rent and some other charges. I was told we didn't have to pay that but now they expect us to and we can't get ahold of anyone in the office.

We are so glad we aren't renting through Goldmark. I would never recommend them to anyone. This review doesn't even include things that happened while we were renting through them.

I'd like to write a review about goldmark management company in Fargo North Dakota. My son lived in there and he ended up getting covid and was not able to get his stuff out of his apartment while they evicted him as he was an isolation for 14 days although they kept making appointments for him to pick up his stuff. All of a sudden they call and say they threw everything away because there was nothing in the apartment and that they would send him pictures which they did, and it shows all of his stuff so they lied to him.

Besides throwing away a personal safe, they threw all of his work paperwork and all of his personal clothing etc. Did they want him to leave quarantine so he could come and get his stuff and spread Covid to everyone? I am pretty sure this is illegal. I'm pretty sure he has rights it's not like he gave himself covid-19. How can anybody trust a company that does that to someone really I can't believe it!

AVOID at all costs! Completely unreasonable. Did a rushed walk-through with my son (who had never rented an apartment before). The apartment smelled strongly of smoke. We couldn't fix the smell no matter how much air freshener we sprayed! See the pics below of the air conditioning wall unit. Clearly, no one prepared the unit for a new tenant. I've rented plenty of apartments and this is the WORST situation I've ever dealt with. Spoke with a regional or area manager, Amanda Erdmann, who only offered exorbitantly expensive options to rectify the situation.

I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with this encounter. Fortunately, we were able to buyout the lease (3 months) just to get him out of there. Goldmark is proof that Yelp should allow less than one star DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

Our recent move to Autumn Chase Apartments with property management by the name of Hunter Lanchbury, has been made complicated. Around two weeks ago we came in, filled out a application and mentioned we had a service dog. The landlord stated we needed a doctors note and we gave it to him soon after we were approved for the apartment. He then said he needed more paperwork and sent it to the doctor.

A few days later he said the doctor denied my roommate was disabled. We than went to the doctor and the doctor said it was the property management who denied the disability of the service dog. Another issue has been the landlord checked off everything in the place and right after we moved in problems started occurring such as the dishwasher was leaking and the carpet needed to be replaced and still has not been replaced yet.

I moved out of West Lake 3, a 4.5 to 5 year old apartment building, in Fargo, ND on June 29, 2018. I lived in that apartment for 4 years and about 2 months (I had 2 leases during that time for a total of 18 months - if it matters). I completed a walk out with the building manager - we both signed a move out checklist that has a few items marked that will need to be cleaned/fixed.

Within 30 days from my checkout, I received an itemization of bills that ate up my $450 deposit & $405 pet deposit. (Whatever - I never assume I'll get any deposit back.) Anyways, my problem is the fact that they are charging me an additional $816. This is due to alleged laminate 'water damage' to the tune of $935. (They also went out of their way to hide the fact that they manage this building).

I only discovered Goldmark managed my apartment after searching for the 'leasing law' company. Well, after 2 phone interactions with the property manager's irritable leasing law person I sent a letter certified in response to their itemization. They sent me the invoice for the floor replacement. After receiving that, I don't doubt they actually had the floor replaced but, that bill made no mention of any damages whatsoever.

I do have general photos of the areas in question that I took the day I moved out. The floor absolutely showed no visible signs of water damage. Even if there was imperceptible damage underneath the laminate, who's to say it wasn't caused by faulty dishwasher hookup or the previous tenant? In any case, the move out checklist mentions every. single. thing from the deposit itemization provided to me, except there is no mention of the floor. at all.

Now they've sent that "debt" to collection, which is slowly destroying my credit", after refusing any negotiation whatsoever and their collections agency tells me "the move out sheet doesn't mean anything". So i guess Goldmark tenants shouldn't bother with a check out appt because, according to their collections partner: "just understand that they are under no obligation to provide receipts for these items since they are the controller of the property and can essentially charge whatever they want".

This property Management company is not honest and none of its agents any integrity they will steal your money. The agents will say anything to get your money. Do not trust them the distrust comes from the top down. The Real Estate Commission should really investigate how this company operates tactics are unethical. Currently BBB has giving them a C- they have 33 complaints and 12 of them are from thisy

These are the rudest bunch in nd. I have never before had a issue with them. But now 2018 stay the heck away. People working at the head office are rude, inconsiderate and cold. Never will i rent from this substandard bunch of loosers again.

We lived in one of the Fairview apts in Bismarck, ND. We have since relocated and are contemplating moving back to Bis-Man. Upon looking for a place to live, I came across Goldmark. We lived in 2 different apartments in the same building between 2015-2017. The process of moving in in 2015 was great. The (then) office manager was great. She was on top of things and really helped us out.

At that time maintenance was quick and efficient. However, 6-7 month into our first lease we started noticing changes. The building was not getting taken care of. Whomever was cleaning on the building was nice, but she DID NOT know how to properly clean. Maintenance started to lack. (Again, NEW ppl. This place is a revolving door type of company.) We decided to stay and renew another lease for a 3rd fl apt.

We were not in the market to move to another location. (I should mention, that our neighbors on the 2nd fl were TERRIBLE. Carrying very odd hours. Very loud and disrespectful. Allowing their children to run around the hallway and play with toys scattered in front of everybody's doors? Oh, and the neighbor across the way from us started a kitchen fire at 2:30 am in the middle of the winter. JOY.) To get our deposit back for the first apt was terrible.

Apparently the Fargo office send out our check to us 3 times in a 6 month period. Which as you all know is a lie. The office manager at the time told us that we could deducted that money off of our next months rent our go to Fargo to get it. Are you kidding me? SO, we moved to the third floor. The apartment was nicer, bigger, etc. The process was surprisingly a smooth one. So, during the fall of 2016 someone tried to break into our garage, damaging the exterior.

Right away we called and let management know that this happened, and that somebody would need to come out and fix the door. Winter was quickly coming and there was a hole large enough for a decent sized cat to fit through. The maintenance woman came out and told me it was settling in the building. Huh? There was crowbar mark on the garage and had prints where somebody tried to lift the door. NOTHING WAS DONE. ALL WINTER THERE WAS A HOLE IN OUR DOOR. Oh, and all the while there was construction on the 1st floor due to an uneven floor, so there were constantly bugs everywhere and loud noise.

A LOT of ppl moved out. SO, when it was FINALLY time to move out- since you cannot break your lease unless you have 5 months or more left, that you have to pay for might I add, we finally, finally moved out. Praise the lord. We moved out. There was NEVER a walk through. So we got our deposit back a few months later. With some outrageous cleaning fees?

The apt looked better when we moved out than it did when we moved in? All I can say is that is was an absolute joke. Especially towards the end. PLEASE choose another company!

This company is in the business to screw you out of your money! BUYER BEWARE! I gave them 40 day notice that i was moving out and "with a smile mind you" they came back on me and said since they didn't get it in writing that I owe a early termination fee of $300. Just crooks here folks!

I wouldn't give them any stars if it were an option. Worst place I've ever lived. I had my whole apartment infested with bugs for over a week before they did anything after I emailed them saying it was written in the handbook that they'd take care of it right away. The neighbor kids would knock my on door and run away or ring my bell.

They did nothing. Other neighbors physical fought and yelled. They did nothing. Neighbors dog whined. They did nothing. It took several weeks before my garage door was fixed in the middle of ND winter. My dishwasher broke. After it was agreed on that my apartment was okay on move out, I received a call saying I would have to replace the carpet. I contacted better business bureau and they backed off. Hopefully that's the end of that. Don't do it. You and your wallet will regret it!

Just like has been stated here through multiple reviews, they are terrible when it comes to check-in/check-out checklists. Do what's been suggested by taking pictures, marking down what you see on their check-in list, and have the employee sign off on them also. They will not hesitate to give you a bad reference if you apply for a future apartment, regardless of what happened during your time at their location.

If you aren't giving them money, they will trash you. If at all possible, in the Fargo area, try and go with Prairie or Skaff as they are much easier to work with. There is nothing worse than to have a monopoly when it comes to renting, and they control over 90% of the area. If I were able to find a 3-bedroom at the time we signed a lease, I would have, but its hard to find certain criteria around the area not managed by them.

Pretty much everything has been said. I've lived in some real dumps before their management is what stinks.

Same song, different verse. We rented from Goldmark in the same apartment for 4 years. We had frequent unannounced inspections, which was unsettling. We dealt with rudeness from staff, but figured, hey. Property management does not always attract nice people and is not always an easy job. However, leaving them was the final insult. When we moved out this summer, the checkout was brutal.

After very thoroughly cleaning the place, the gals checking us out made me wipe down spots on my hands and knees that I had apparently missed. I wish I was joking- the two followed me around, pointing out invisible "dirty spots" while I tried to clean them on all fours. This was absolutely and totally degrading, and I did it under the threat of being charged more.

As I checked out, they stated that since we lived there for four years, we wouldn't be charged for paint or a cleaning crew because it fell under normal wear and tear. Guess what? Yesterday I got a bill for a couple hundred dollars for cleaning "as agreed upon at check out." The best part? They assessed these charges earlier this week, and immediately sent my "deliquent" bill to a collections agency, making it damn near impossible to contest anything. Also, being hounded by a collections agency for charges made not even a week from writing this review feels like intimidation. Honestly, it's a slap in the face after 4 years of renting. However, from reading other reviews, it seems we got off easy. If you can avoid it, DO NOT RENT FROM GOLDMARK. They do not have your interests at heart and will bilk you for every last cent, all while laughing in your face.

We rented from Goldmark in Bismarck, at Highland Meadows from 2011-2012. We had a 1 year lease and we had no hesitation to move out as soon as it was up. We constantly battled with other tenants for parking, even over our own assigned spot a few times! We came to find out that the majority of our neighbors were college students that partied ALL the time.

We would find vomit outside our door from people above us puking off the balcony, cigarette butts and broken glass from beer bottles everywhere, and constant traffic all day (probably people buying drugs). This was not just one neighbor either. The laundry facility was disgusting, all of the machines smelled bad of mold, and the floors were filthy.

It was not kept up, and they charged quite a bit to use the coin-op machines (if they even worked!). Their selling point could be the pool behind the laundry facility.if they ever let anyone swim! They kept it locked more often than it was open, and said they had problems with chlorine levels.blah blah. Our check-in was pretty good, and we did get all of our deposit back because I cleaned the hell of out that place.

When you give your move out notice, they give you a "check list" of everything you need to clean, and the associated charges if you didn't clean it.it was kind of ridiculous. I would NOT recommend renting from Goldmark. I've usually had best luck renting from the local-mom-n-pops that only have a couple rental units.

I completely agree with Christopher. We moved in and they did a rush walkthru. marking EVERYTHING AS NEW which was a total lie. my husband didn't pay much attention and just signed off. when if you've ever owned a cat. someone OBVIOUSLY had a cat there. we moved out, cleaned everything, it looked better than when we moved in. She even said that we'd actually get something back! three months later we get a call from a collection agency saying that we OWE money. Needless to say we are in the process of taking them to small claims court.
