Sunset View Apartments has been my family's home for more than 5 years. This is a nice place to live. Made nicer by the hands of our manager Brianna and her maintenance crew. It is so nice to be able to reach out to Brianna and know that I will get a quick response. Any maintenance needs that arise are handled quickly and thoroughly. Jesus does a great job at repairing or replacing the items in question.

We are never left waiting for service and we never feel dissatisfied by the results. Being well taken care of as a tenant and having everything in working order means a lot to my family and I.

I would like to acknowledge, thank and commend Marissa Kendall, Resident Manager of Sussex Gardens Apartments in Imperial Beach because ever since she has began managing Sussex Gardens, the entire property/premises has improved significantly from aesthetics (we now have beautiful photos/decor in our Recreation Room-Marissa has such good taste, we also now have beautiful planters with beautiful flowers to name a few) to functional facilities (I reported that our balcony and the guardrail on our balcony needed repairs and Marissa got it repaired in record time).

I am 54 years old and have rented at many properties and Marissa Kendall is the absolute BEST property manager EVER! Her organization skills, knowledge, utmost customer service are noteworthy and her responsiveness/efforts are commendable. Marissa Kendall is the GREATEST! When recently looking for a new apartment I stumbled upon Sunset View. I called the office and spoke with Brianna Coleman. Brianna has been super pleasant and helpful through the whole process from my inquiry to my move-in. She has done everything to ensure that my apartment was top notch before I moved in. There was one small thing that needed to be fixed and when I emailed Brianna she promptly got this fixed for me. I cannot be happier with my new home. It's beautiful and spacious. This place is a hidden gem. I am surrounded by beautiful views.

My family has lived at Sunset view apartments for 10 years. Recently we were taken over by griswold management and we could not be happier. Maria and team has made this place a wonderful place to live. When we have maintenance issues they are dealt with in a timely matter and are taken seriously. Maria really cares about the residents and makes herself available for any questions and concerns.

When we had an issue that was not dealt with properly from previous management she was able to fix the issue 100% and she made sure that it was fixed correctly no matter the cost. Thank you Maria and team for making sunset view a good place to live again!

I am a tenant at one of the apartment properties ran by Griswold (Sunset View in El Cajon).My husband & I were deflated about the complex getting yet another management change about a year ago. Especially since Griswold has awful reviews! I've had ok managers before & terrible managers but Maria is outstanding. This is not the best spot in El Cajon yet the property offers benefit of being farther off the main road as well as lots of beautiful trees, birds, etc. (We even had a hummingbird nest on our patio at one point! ) Maria enhances all of that by properly directing improvements; working with the landscape techs, maintenance, & tenants alike.

We are treated with respect & yet Maria makes sure tenants know the rules in place to maintain & improve the property. She gives people a few fair chances to "catch up" & then draws the line. It's made such a huge difference; parking is better, the grounds look better, no more loud parties late at night (used to happen all through the week with drunk people fighting and yelling into the morning). She doesn't "pull punches" when it comes to bad behavior but she is also very understanding if you're not being insubordinate or a jerk. Thanks Maria & team! ^_^

I would like to take a moment to leave a review here as I have recently left being there to purchase a home. It is a safe and enjoyable place to live, although I had heard from others.it was once not this way. The patio views are wonderful and the onsite manager, Maria Cahill is a gem to work with. She was proactive when any issues came up and worked diligently to resolve any problems.

The management office is pleasant to go and Maria listens to each tenant that comes by. I honestly had a great, and hassle free experience living there and leaving there. Just as a matter of disclosure though, if you are not okay with stairs.well there are a lot of stairs! But, the view off your patio is pretty cool. So there is give and take. If you are looking for a clean, safe, and continually improving place to live, plus a responsive manager who cares and is proactive.apply here.

Yesterday I went to the office to pay my rent and it took 20 mins because the office manager wanted to argue with me about a Incident that had already passed. I let her know that I wasn't there to argue I just want to pay my rent, what's done is done. She proceeds to tell me that its clear I'm unhappy here. And I should move. I let her know I'm fine.

And she said that her boss said she doesn't have to put up with me. Its evident she is not happy with me. Which it fine with me too. Asked me if I wanted to pay my rent online. Thanks but no thanks I will come in every month and get my recipe. Oh and then asks me about the pics I posted. Also says that her priorities are the inside of the buildings.

I can post pictures if I want people have a right to know what they are getting themselves into. And you manage the property not just the interiors. Very unprofessional to argue with your tenants about a decision the owner made.

Griswold and Ed property managed one of my properties and they were great while collecting their fee's and there were no issues but unsupportive and unprofessional when problems arose. Later, during disputes they outright lied about how things happened. They are only out for themselves, not to protect the property owner. They even tried to get out of their management contract before it was over and while a tenant was in the process of eviction. They will not protect you!

I must say with our new manager Maria things have gotten so much better. She has made improvements, she's taken care of all our concerns and she communicates very well. Another thing that was an issue in the past was management was always rude and never answered the phone. She's the opposite of that! We're happy to be here

I have lived here for years and we have gone through a lot of management but once Maria started managing and working here. she has gotten things done! She is very thoughtful and professional. She's understanding and listens. The new maintenance man is also very professional and knows what he's doing. I'm very happy to be here. It's gotten a lot safer as well. I would recommend living here to anyone especially family oriented people.

Just moved in and so far so good! My friends and I moved in at a newly renovated apartment (which is absolutely STUNNING). As for the application process, screening & everything.all of these were painless thanks to our property manager, Maria. She was thorough with explaining everything (especially since we are first time renters) and making sure that the apartment is ready and beautiful once the move in date rolled around.

She continues to make sure we feel at home and is easily reached whenever we need anything. I've heard a lot of horror stories from other first time renters about dealing with their property managers and the apartment complex workers but at Sunset View, they have been so accommodating and kind! The only thing I would recommend is for more parking spaces but with the price, how nice the apartments are, and how amazing the staff are.can't really complain! Thanks again to Maria!

DO NOT RENT HERE! I have been a tenant for over 15 years. There have been many managers and management companies through the years and this new one is by far the WORST. They are actively trying to squeeze every cent out of the tenants and while most do, this is the worst I've seen. They have all actively ignored requests for maintenance. I have an oven that has not worked properly for over 5 years.

As a matter of fact, it turned itself on one night and I had to have the fire Dept. come shut of my gas. The fire chief said that it was not safe to operate and should be replaced immediately. When I told the manager He sent the on sight handyman to "fix" it. It still does not work properly. The dishwasher hasn't worked the entire time I've lived here.

They did not replace the carpet when we moved in. There were noticeable patches in the carpet. There were children's toys still in the cupboards. In 15 years there has never been grafitti anywhere on the buildings but from day one of this new management company there are penis' drawn everywhere. I have found crack pipes and syringes in the parking lot.

I would move if it weren't for my financial situation. These used to be some of the cheapest places to rent but they have raised my rent $100/year the last three years in a mad dash to catch up to the average rents in this area. So, that's not even a selling point for them anymore. I've also noticed that this place has a 4 star rating (Odd that the management company has a 2 star rating) but that is the management companies creating those reviews. Anything that mentions a manager by name is a fake review. Those are friends of the managers. Rent at your own risk!

These apartments are located near major highways in El Cajon connecting you to all of San Diego. Very clean well kept and affordable apartments. I would recommend these apartments to my friends.

I'm disappointed that I can't put zero but this forces me to put a one star. I am not even a renter but was interested in a house for rent. I explained my situation and was told it would be a waist of time for Ed Nakanura to show me a house. Was told I had to apply for the house and start renting it in two weeks if he was going to show it to us. How would I know if I liked it if I've never even seen it? Overall glad I didn't rent from them!
