Hunziker Property Management

I DO NOT recommend to deal with this office, they ask to submit your application for rent and the next day, will send you a message someone pay the deposit for the unit, even though they didn't tell you that they are many applications on this unit. They are just making money from this and will ask you anyone who is 18 years old or up need to apply 30$ for each one what a cheap company. Don't go find by yourself.

Great response to a maintenance request and this isn't the first time. Gutter on our building had been leaking for a while so on a rainy I submitted a request to have it repaired. Gutter was fixed within a day and this is on a 2-story building that would take some effort to get up to. Thank you.

I was a tenant in one of Hunziker's properties for two years. I was very pleased and impressed, and highly recommend any of their units. Any maintenance issues I had were taken care of within a day. Any questions I had were answered by the property manager within minutes (and she was available via text).

Discriminatory business practices: VERY family unfriendly. Essentially we received retaliatory backlash for exercising our rights as tenants. We got no end of harassment about our lifestyle as we were merely going about our business living our lives and never in breach of lease terms. I should first point out that we lived in a very large development of theirs DIRECTLY ACROSS FROM A SCHOOL, in which there was NO playground anywhere, which makes a strong statement in discouragement of young families from applying.

In this development we witnessed maybe a handful of young families. In an upstairs unit during daylight hours, we were told to keep our young child quiet. They complained to us about our vehicle not being maintained. Maintenance was responsive but ineffective regarding a serious mold growth problem resulting from single-pane windows not being properly insulated.

Water literally dripped down the panes in the winter and pooled, causing serious mold growth. Finally, we were simply asked not to renew our lease and furthermore were told that we were not permitted to rent with their company again. When asked for a reason, one was not provided. I should also point out that as a young family, we were using a lot of water for cooking, bathing, and laundry.

Water was included in the lease. I strongly suspect but cannot confirm they were upset about having to pay for water usage they deemed too much, especially in the absence of a reason for sending us away. Shadiest of all, when they correctly suspected us of preparing to hold them legally accountable, lo and behold we received our ENTIRE deposit back. Every penny. Experienced renters will know that this is unheard of, even if you leave your unit immaculate when you leave.

Overall a wonderful living experience. Apartment was renovated, laundry in building is always working and cheap to use. Matinence requests (for me) were always done within 4-5 hours. I even had a whole fridge replaced in an hour! They're very lenient with rent payments, easy to talk to, and love holding events and seeing residents pets too. I've never had a problem with the property management, I'd definitely recommend it.

I requested a maintenance for several issues in my apartment. They resolved all of them completely. There was also one emergency issue during the weekend. They came quickly and solved it on that day. Hunziker is very responsive and professional.

I love Hunziker property management and maintenance service, they are supper fast efficient. whenever I asked them for any maintenance requests, it works like magic, they respond you very quickly and try to solve it as soon as possible. The maintenance guys are supper friendly and they always understand your needs and try to fill it.

Been living on Todd dr since 2019 and I can honestly say this is one of the best apartments I've ever lived at. I've had a few issues with past neighbors but an easy email or call to the office property and it was fixed! The maintenance is amazing they get everything done and are super friendly and they are very fast at responding. My husband and I got into a car accident back in 2020 we didn't get home until about 2 am, we didn't have our keys since it was stuck in the car and they came right away with a spare key no hesitation or attitude what so ever they were very understanding. Rent is super affordable the internet package is also very nice that comes with the apartment.

They always do some sort of contest and its always fun to participate and get free food as well. I wish we didn't have to move soley because the apartment managers and maintenance is super responsive and understanding. If I could rate a 10 out of 5 I would.

I would say that I had a below average experience living here. I can concur with others who have left reviews that at the start the staff was great at responding and getting repairs done on a routine basis. However, as I started to ask questions and inquire about overall processes and execution of various different things, I was given the cold shoulder. Asking to re-up a lease for a year and a half in advance is an extreme thing to ask a young professional.

I felt like I was treated as a College Sophomore as oppose to an adult. Finally, when I left the unit I was charged an insane amount for standard updates and fixes. I was also charged a cleaning fee that did not reflect the state of the unit when I left! I would say that every single person I met who helped with the repairs in my unit was AMAZING!

They were personable, fun, and really related to me individually. All in all, it sucks that Hunziker has so many units and you feel like you almost have to live under their roof. If you have the chance, try to find somewhere that is not such a monopoly and someone who treats you as an individual, not just a number.

I usually try to share my experiences to help others to have an idea before to decide where to rent. Living in a property managed by Hunziker was one of the best decisions that I made. During one year living in a Hunziker property, I had lots of good experiences. They are very responsive to maintenances and quick to fix the issues. They reply to your emails very nicely.

Very friendly staff! One of the incredible thing that distinguishes Hunziker is that they always had someone over the building every few days to clean the whole building and wipe out the windows! This makes a good feeling when you enter the building which is clean, nice, and friendly environment. They also returned majority of my deposit! So, overall with all these good things: friendly staff, responsiveness, good maintenance, super professionalism, . I highly recommend Hunziker property management.

I've lived here in Ames for years and this is my first rented property from Hunziker and have had the worst experience from the very beginning. Our property manager didn't know the layout of the apartment when she showed us and was very clueless to any details of the apartment. After a while of living here I got used to things breaking and people stealing my mail, but recently their management of the foliage trimmed trees without letting us know and threw away something very dear to me with the branches they cut off.

I called and asked if they could do anything or why this had happened, the reply I got was dismissive and passive aggressive - saying I should even put personal items out on my porch area. MY area. Bad management!

Same as the other review. Extremely slow/non-existent maintenance. Property is shabby, and they tried to take deposit for damage the previous tenant had left and that I had reported when I moved in. When I first got my keys, nothing had been cleaned and the apartment reeked of cat piss, so I had to wait for them to fix it. They posted signs in the building saying they would automatically keep part of the deposit unless tenants could show a receipt for professional cleaning services (this is illegal, and the signs were taken down).

The buildings are very cheaply made, so you will hear and smell everything your neighbors are doing. If you rent here, I highly recommend shorting them the last month of rent, because they will keep the deposit no matter what.

While I remodeled my rental property I had my daughter stay at a Hunziker apartment. Extremely polite, professional, and ethical company. I would work with them again without a doubt.

AVOID AT ALL COST. Play nice before you sign the lease, then you can start enjoying the worst service in Ames. Maintenance is simply slow and ineffective. Hold sec deposit for one month after lease ends and took 1/2 for absolutely no reason. Sent letters asking for $$$ after moving out for no reason. Lease manager never answer calls or reply emails. Bunch of liars, a shame of IOWA.
