The best part was working with Island Realty. They assisted us in finding the house we rented, answered all our questions, and sent reminders and phone number incase of needing further assistance during our stay. All were professional and friendly. The house is a perfect beach house and located three blocks away form the beach which made it a quiet spot to stay. The large fenced-in backyard made it easy to have our dog with us and she loved the couch to nap in.

I have rented from Island Realty for a decade or more and have always had a great experience. They are great with communication, from booking to check-in the whole process is superb. On the few times I have experienced an issue (locked myself out, cable out) they have immediately responded. When booking multiple properties for an extended family trip they were helpful in advising me about the properties to best fit our situation.

I have stayed in at least six places they manage -- all were well-equipped and clean. I would highly recommend them to you when looking for lodging in the Charleston beach area.

To Island Realty's reply: That is not true. Your maintenance department did not fix the toilet within the first call, nor did they replace the part the following day. I am confused as to why I would need to place multiple calls to fix the issue? I was on vacation to enjoy time away and not sit on the phone. I think your response should speak volumes to people as they read these reviews.

I used to always recommend Island Realty for vacation rentals on IOP but I no longer will be recommending them. Our Sea Cabin did not have a properly flushing toilet and the place smelled. Reported the toilet issue to maintenance, they advised they did not have the part and would fix it the next day. They came out the following day and relayed they did not have the part and would have to order it.

Once we returned home, I left my feedback per the Island Realty follow up email. I received a call from Linda and she relayed that maintenance noted that our toilet was functioning.of course.

We have stayed in the Sea Cabins so many times that I've lost count! Love this place! 133C is a lovely cabin with a very comfortable bed, good sized TV in LR and a small one in bedroom. Great view of the ocean! Highly recommend the Sea Cabins!

Our stay at 1140 Ocean Blvd, #202 using Island Realty was not a good experience. Upon entering the condo, we were hit with a stench of cigarettes and mustiness. (So much for being a non-smoking place.) We called to complain and they offered to send a maintenance person over with an air purifier. He also stated the owner/manager would call me but that never happened. (No surprise.) When the maintenance person came in, he was taken back with "WOW!" and stated it wasn't our imagination.

After roughly 6 hours, the air started to clear. However, when raising the A/C to 76 degrees, the odor came back. We purchases Febreeze just to get through the week. The rugs were stained as well as the couch which was very worn. The bathroom off of the king bedroom needed to be redone and it had mold in the shower. The other 2 bathrooms were okay but the water pressure in the sinks was extremely low.

The kitchen is worn and needs to be redone. The glowing reviews and seeing the nice pictures on Island Realty's website is not a true depiction what-so-ever of the condition this unit is in. I would not rent from Island Realty again and do not recommend anyone for this property. We were disgusted to say the least.

Our stay at Seascape #516, using Island Realty for the rental, was very eventful but not in the way we would want. We were looking for a nice relaxing vacation with family; unfortunately, we were met with a VERY unpleasant time. We noticed a few things that needed attention upon arrival. The kitchen light bulb was out, a leak in the shower sprayed against the sheetrock wall outside of the shower, & the most annoying, a HIGH pitch, shrill noise coming from the upstairs bath.

While there we reported all of these - the light bulb & shower were repaired; however the VERY high pitch shrill noise was not. This intermittent noise woke us up several times during the night. After receiving no action from our complaint we physically drove to Island Realty's office & let them listen to our video. The receptionist watched & listened to my video & couldn't believe how loud & shrill the noise was.

She asked if she could take my phone & let their maintenance department listen to it. We were certain then that our problem would be fixed, however were we wrong. After trying to sleep with that HIGH pitch shrill noise another night I called for the 3rd or 4th time & complained - again receiving no relief. Finally a female returned my call & gave me some lame excuse that the VERY high pitch shrill noise was coming from the HVAC system.

I knew the problem was coming from the plumbing in the upstairs bath & tried to convince her of that but she would not listen. Bottom line I asked the curt lady for them to refund us one nights lodging, she refused. But she did offer to pay for a stay in a motel a short distance from the beach with no kitchen. I politely declined. We've used Island Realty before but never will again. We were not treated as valued return customers. I would highly recommend not using Island Realty for you vacation needs!

I inquired about a property over a month ago and the employee of this property management company was supposed to get back to me after asking the property owner a question. A few weeks went by and I reached out to him to see if there was any answer and he responded that the property owner had not gotten back to him yet. I have a couple weeks goes by and I email again and I get no response.

I get a separate email, probably a generic email asking if I needed any help. I responded that I've been trying to book a house, but someone else was supposed to get back to me with an answer I never did. Didn't get a response from that email either. Finally I call and the original guy that I was talking to picks up the phone and is like "oh yeah I think I contacted the owner and the answer was no".

You THINK? Unbelievably bad communication and customer service. I definitely will not be supporting this company which is a shame because I would be a repeat customer and excellent renter. I spend over a month down in Charleston area every year.

I have now had two honest reviews of rental properties censored, because they had either an unfavorable comment, or a poor rating. The latest property was 7 Palm Court, Isle of Palms. The house was dank, moldy, and musty, and the yard was unkempt and full of rats. When I wrote and posted the review, it stayed up for a day until the censors removed it. I rented this house based largely on its review profile. I have otherwise had good experiences with Island Realty, but DO NOT rely on their property reviews.

We enjoyed our stay at 404 Palm Blvd. in IOP so much! The house was clean and organized. Plenty of towels for 5 guests. And we LOVED having a washer and dryer. The house was spacious and allowed for so many good memories. We didn't have any issue with Island Reality management. This was the easiest and most stress free vacation because of our beach house. I would definitely work with them again for a beach rental.

Update: the response from the only after this review but their classic response 'we can't find your reservation' haha! Yeah right they know me well! Ask everyone in the office! Nice try! Where do we begin? For a house that cost almost $8k the condition of it was disgraceful. It did not reflect the pictures on the website. In full disclosure we did receive a partial refund.

Not even half though. What you don't see in the pictures is the nightly wake up call from rodents in the walls scratching. The carpets were disgusting. The outdoors were filthy. The bedspreads not washed. Oven that didn't close and a partial working stove. Do not rent 10 Beachwood west! I wouldn't use island realty again unfortunately. After not going anywhere for 2 years we had so much riding on this trip.

It was sad. 1985 called they want you to do some repairs and take this house off the market. They won't let you write an honest review on their website either. So check out Yelp & BBB. I wish I had. I could go on and on but you get the picture!

Where do we even begin? I will preface this by saying after much effort we did receive a partial refund but not even half. They should not have even charged us at all. The only saving grace to this home is that it was a short walk to the beach which is where we stayed as being at the house was miserable. If I could rate this place 0 stars I would. DO NOT RENT 10 BEACHWOOD WEST.

After reading these reviews I would say do not use ISLAND REALTY at all. I had no idea Yelp reviewed businesses like this. We thought going with a local rental company would be better than Airbnb or VRBO. Boy were we wrong! Our vacation at 10 BEACHWOOD WEST was a nightmare. This was not what anyone would call the "the highest level of service and quality".

If it is then IR are in the wrong business. I have rented vacation homes for years and never have experienced this level of neglect in a home. Shame on the managing company, shame on the homeowner. From the moment we walked in we knew this is not what we expected. The musty and dingy smell hit us like a ton of bricks. For the $$ we spent we expected a working kitchen to say the least, a working elevator (and if it wasn't to be notified), a carpet not full of stains, a home not infested by rodents so much so that they woke us up with their scratching in the walls.

We expected a SAFE home. The locks on the front door never worked. We had no idea until the last day when we were locking up. The back door was wide open the whole time. We had to leave the door to the elevator open upstairs in the home so that no one could come into the house that way and murder us in our sleep. The pool area was a wreck. Overgrown, not maintained at all.

The chairs were rusted out. We joked they were the tetanus chairs. The screened in porches looked as if they had not been cleaned since the home was built in 1985. Noone sat out there. The house hasn't changed since 1985. To add to the torture we were awoken at 6:30 in the morning to the neighbor pruning his trees then doing the trees in the yard of the rental.

When we approached him he informed us that he had the permission of the owner. LOL! Oh yeah that makes sense. Unreal! Also was awoken by a drone in the middle of the night that sounded like someone was mowing their lawn. I mean the insanity was just immense. We felt we were being punked. I spoke with Collins at length after we returned home. He 'yes ma'am' me until I couldn't take it anymore.

The words of apologies do not mean anything if they don't take action. I have little faith that anything will change. They are renting homes to people that are not fit for my dog. The pictures on their website do not reflect what you walk into. False advertising at its best. We drove from CT to SC to meet our friends who we hadn't seen since before COVID.

Our first vacation in 2 years. That's what makes this experience so much worse and so heartbreaking. Both families had so much wrapped up in this trip. Our first shot at some normalcy. IR ruined that. It was hard to recover and put such a damper on things. On a vacation you shouldn't have to "make the best of it". It should be awesome and amazing.

Yes nothing is perfect but you can't do this to people. Don't take the reviews on IR's website at face value. That was my rookie mistake. Read these reviews. IR is not letting people write honest reviews on their website. We have no reason to exaggerate or make this stuff up.

Great vacation! The condo was equipped with so many conveniences, even dish soap and a scrub sponge. The view was beautiful from our balcony. I can't wait to stay with them again next year!

Do not rent 200 Carolina and if you smell mold and mildew refuse to stay in any unit. It's dangerous to your health. We are locals who live in the Old Village about five minutes from Sullivan's. But we have to drive to the beach and find a place to park. A hassle during Covid. We thought it would be fun to rent a beach cottage on Isle of Palms so we could spend a week just walking a block or two to the beach, since traveling afar is such an unknown this year.

We rented 200 Carolina the lower unit. When we walked into the unit we were met with the over-powering smell of mold and mildew. I have never smelled mold and mildew so bad in my life. At that point we should have gone right back to the office and demanded our money back. If we weren't to so desperate to get out of our house during Covid, we would have.

My husband stayed a few nights and I slept at home. We ended up using it for very expensive parking. But even with that exposure we both ended up with mold sickness. A serious condition despite the fact the real estate lobby has fought hard to deny. We are extremely healthy, active people who are rarely sick but we are now on week six of mold sickness.

The mold spores entered our lungs and we have been quite ill. We never received a receipt after our stay or a chance to review 200 Carolina, which is a dump btw. Guess that's why! When we called to say this place is full of mold the person who answered said 'yeah I was just there and it stunk' So Island Realty knew this place was dangerously moldy.

We learned a big and dangerous lesson. Don't stay if it smells like mold. Shame on you Island Realty for renting places that are dangerous to people's health. 200 Carolina and Im sure many other island Realty properties need to be torn down if this is how they are 'maintained.'

Worst experience I've ever had trying to rent a unit for vacation they go gave no help getting information payment took four times putting a hold on my bank to get it to go through from their end and then to top it off the property was not as advertised it didn't have the amount of beds it said it did worst ever never will use them again

I have rented from Island Realty for over 15 years. For the most part I have found their entire staff accommodating and responsive. This post is to review one of their properties at 128 Charleston Blvd. We stayed there in May of 2020. Though the kitchen is well stocked and the location is perfect for beach access the house is in desperate need of updating and cleaning.

This home has not had a deep clean in years. There were cob webs, sticky banisters, dust on all the personal items and palmetto bugs in the baths and kitchen. The upholstery furnishings are filthy and the outdoor lounge cushions are ripped to shreds. The Master mattress needs to be thrown out as well as all the pillows and linens in that room. The rug is nasty.

The AC went out twice, the hand railing under the house was on the floor when we arrived and one step was pulling away from front decking. Island Realty was responsive and did send maintenance promptly. I asked for the property mgr to call me as I wanted to be sure they knew the AC was dripping condensation so badly the golf cart under the unit was completely molded.

I never received a call. Upon arrival there was no dish washing liquid or dish rags. I would never stay at this location though I would use Island Realty again. I don't know if the owners are aware or just don't care.

This company is garbage. We are are not able to travel due to the Coronavirus. We have a total of 6 children and 3 adults over the age of 60. We will have to stop at gas stations and places to eat along the way putting everyone at risk. Half of the country is shut down and they are not giving refunds, not even half. And they told us that beaches are closed and restaurants are only taking carry out or delivery, but we should still come.

Give me a break. And to top it off, our trip is in 2 weeks and if we don't give them an alternative week to exchange bour trip date we loose our money. I am a school nurse and my sister in law is a school councilor. We have no idea what the future holds, so it is nearly impossible to make plans right now. Thanks for being such a Community helper Island Reality. I hope you treat other community helpers better than this! Update: after the island was completely shut down down we received a full refund

We stayed in a condo in 302 I Tidewater on Island of Palms. It was spotlessly clean, quiet, safe, and comfortable. Island Realty was great to work with--professional, friendly, and helpful. The kitchen was well-stocked, the decor was lovely, and we had a gorgeous sunrise view. We would absolutely return to this property.

Zero stars. I would never recommend Island Realty to anyone. My wife and I rented an apartment on James Island from Island Realty for multiple years. They seemed like an okay property management company, until we moved out. Eric Stone, who after reading reading other bad reviews on Yelp and other sites appears to be a relative of the owner, he was 20 minutes late for the move out inspection.

My 7 month pregnant wife had to stand for the entire time in our empty apartment. He pointed out that we had dust on the base boards and the crown molding (10 feet up the wall), and our trash can had rubbed paint off the wall in the kitchen. There were two weeks in May with temperatures above 90 degrees where our A/C unit broke and had to be replaced, we were never offered compensation when we had to stay in a hotel.

After moving out my wife and I spent 4 hours thoroughly cleaning the apartment. While renting we fought dust inside our apartment while the exterior of the building was being resided, windows and doors replaced, and drywall repaired. We were never compensated for nights we had to stay at a hotel while the windows were replaced or drywall was being repaired.

Other renters in the building were given half off rent during construction for those inconveniences, we were denied. We were never offered anyone to clean up after the construction. The same dust pointed out during the move out inspection is from that construction. We just bought our first home and have a baby on the way. We were taken advantage of with a $150 carpet cleaning fee, $100 damage fee for a trash can "rash", a $ 200 cleaning fee, and charged an additional rent day for the day of the inspection when Eric was 20 minutes late.

They held the deposit "until all expenses were paid" and then sent it through snail mail. The $100 damage fee for the trash can rub is charged while they already have plumbing, drywall, and paint repairs being made on a leaking bathtub we had to deal with for the last 3 months of living there. We were not offered any compensation for only being able to take showers. Do NOT rent or use Island Reality if you expect to deal with a fair and honest company.

Just returned from IOP visit. Island Realty has always taken good care of us. Customers for over 15+ years. We've stayed in several different houses - each one is different, which we like, but always clean. They are professional and welcoming. We have tried other companies on the island but return to Island Realty for their variety of houses, consistency and willingness to work with our family.

This most recent trip was in the off-season and we got a text message to let us know the house was cleaned earlier than expected and we could check in early! A nice surprise.

I wish I had checked reviews before renting from them. We asked for an early check in and and late check out. Should have been easy because the house was not rented the day before we got there or the day after. But instead of saying "this is your vacation and we will do whatever we can to accommodate you" they said, we can't do it, you have to call the cleaning company, we can't change the schedule, etc. I have rented many houses from many agencies. These guys were the worst. Avoid them. (No complaints about the house, which was great.only about the agency).

We rented Grand Pavilion 130. Pictures are not up to date on the Island Reality site. MUSTY Smell when entering was a huge clue that we had been deceived by Island Reality. Missing comforters, disrepair of property, torn off baseboards / cabinets, dirty carpet, old beds, mold in and around showers / bathrooms, along with a visit to the ER for an allergic reaction had my family leaving early. When we arrived we immediately asked for another property but no availability. We were stuck. No one stayed for the full week. Attached are pictures.

My parents checked into an Island Realty property today on Isle of Palms and were totally disgusted with the state of the house that was rented to them. It was filthy. There was dog hair everywhere, the cabinet doors were sticky, the throw rugs and furniture were covered in coffee/food stains and dirt. My parents were not expecting the house to be perfect, but this is totally unacceptable.

There are many choices for rentals on IOP. I would never rent from a company like Island Realty which obviously doesn't take the time to check in on their properties. Disgusting.

I've been coming to Isle of Palms for a few years now and we've always used Island Realty for our rentals. This year was no different. Unfortunately the hurricane had other plans for our stay this year. We had a little snafu with communication as to when/if we could continue our vacation after the evacuation period had ended. And within a couple hours Lynda with Island Realty went above and beyond to turn a negative situation into a positive. My friends and family will continue these annual trips to IOP and Island Realty will remain our ONLY choice for rentals! Thank you Lynda! Customer Service at its finest!

Rented a great house for a bachelorette party that was managed by Island Realty. The house was clean, gorgeous and slept 16. The checkin/checkout process was painless and quick and everything was as pictured.
