I have rented two apartments (first a studio and then a one bedroom) at the 1 Craigie Street location for the past four years. The building manager Adam has always been super helpful and responsive to anything that has come up. The building is extremely well maintained and both apartments I've rented were turned over clean and in good condition. The apartments are unique and have a lot of historical charm.

The location is unbeatable for the Cambridge area and the rents were always very reasonable. Meg, the office manager, has also always been very helpful and courteous answering any questions or concerns that have ever come up. We have been very happy with our experience renting from Leeder and would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

They always fix things right away. Fixed my fire alarm, shower, heating system within a day. No problems. Also, the maintenance guy came and let me in at 1 a.m. when I locked myself out. So, I can't complain.

I have to agree with Angie C on everything. The ONLY reason that we lived in Perkins Sq is because it is cheap. 5 years has passed since Angie's review, and nothing has improved. Actually, things are getting worse. We are currently living in an apartment with rodents, cockroach and bed bugs. Yes, everything possibly you could have! The leeder management are pretty strict about your responsibilities, but half-assing their duties.

For example, after a neighbor moved out, it took the contractor 3 months to refurnish the unit. Every morning we were waken up by loud noise. It went on for the whole morning. If you plan on doing serious business at home, it is usually not a good choice. As stated above, they have pest problems all over the building, but never seriously sought to solve it.

My wife got new bites every morning. Calling their emergency number always goes into a voice mail. What if there is a water leak? Or something you cannot wait? Do not count on it. Today we found a mouse in our oven (which is still there while I am writing this review), we called emergency, no one come to help. It totally scares my wife yet we have to wait until their people are available.

That is the way their maintenance works. Yeah, to sum up, if you don't want to be bothered with unending sanity issues and worry about all kinds of pest problems, don't live here, even though it is significantly cheaper than other places. We totally regret now, but the lease says that we have to stay. What can you do?

Great real estate, terrible management. As a resident of 122 Bowdoin for 4 years, I paid Leeder Management nearly $100,000. The location of the property I stayed in was fantastic, but the professionalism of the office staff and responsiveness to the building's needs leave much to be desired. From the time I moved in, the promise of upgrades was constantly made and never met.

The elevators at 122 Bowdoin are a complete death trap - I was told prior to move in "We're working to replace these." 4 years later - people are still getting stuck in them on 90 degree summer days. The posted elevator certificates are out of date and not code compliant. Trash removal used to be a simple in-building process. Now tenants are schlepping trash around the corner leaving it in a filthy alley of waste. Lockouts used to be free.

Now fees are assessed at every turn. Service is down and rents are up. So it goes. To add insult to to injury, each year, renewing leases and dealing with the unprofessionalism of their office staff was simply grueling. The leasing business is a service business. As a tenant, I'm a customer and as a customer, I'm paying for the convenience of living in your property.

This was lost on Meg, Nicole and their entire Coolidge Corner operation. Howard Leeder, do yourself a favor and hire some people that know how to manage property. This building's legacy deserves better.

I lived in a Perkins Square apartment for 3 years, and enjoyed it there very much. The apartments are very well laid-out and have lots of light, and they refinish the floors and paint between tenants. I only ever had a couple repair needs, but they were both dealt with promptly. They paid the interest on my deposit each year, raised the rent only once ($25) at the start of my third year (although tenant-at-will rate is $50 higher than lease rate).

No problems getting my deposit back after moving out. My apartment was mouse and bug-free. The place is good value for the location and apartments, and I'll miss it there.

Perkins Square Rentals If you ever have a problem understand you will never get it resolved. The former manager (Keith) was the hardest person to find. Communication was lacking from the time we signed the lease until now. The ONLY reason we're still at this location is because it's cheap and the location is great. When we first moved in we were given the wrong set of keys and the manager was nowhere to be found. Luckily the maintenance guy just happened to walk by and was able to help us.

Even prior to moving in when trying to schedule a time to sign the lease took several weeks due to Keith being MIA. That caused problems with our former landlord since nothing was finalized as planned and we couldn't give a definite answer. Currently Keith is no longer with this company and they provided 2 contact numbers (one for after hour emergencies).

There is a strong gas scent coming from our stove so I figure this would be an emergency. After calling both numbers it has been 2 days and I still have not heard anything. Maybe they don't see it as an emergency? After the first two incidents at the beginning I realized anything I can resolve on my own I might as well not try and contact this management company. However, when there's a potential gas leak I would think they would act upon it on a timely manner.

Try and avoid moving in here at all costs. I'm pretty sure we won't be staying much longer. If you must move in pray you will not have any serious issues that needs to be resolved.

Rented an apartment in their Craigie St building in Cambridge. I didn't go through much of the preliminaries with them, because I had an agent, but I was totally satisfied with the apartment. I saw it when the previous tenant was there and it was in great shape, but they still scheduled a month break between us and cleaned and repainted the entire apartment before I moved in.

Also never had any trouble with repairs, etc and they were very prompt in returning my security deposit. Only trouble I ever had was with the parking spaces -- the tiny lot is borderline too small for the building (ten spaces for almost fifty apartments?) and they gave away my space because it took me two days to call them back. It turned out fine and saved me a bunch of money, but I wished they'd let me know it would be up for grabs if I took too long. But all in all, I'd say it was an excellent value for a beautiful apartment that they're working to keep in great shape.

This review is for Keith, the manager for Perkins Square in JP. Keith was rude, disorganized, and quoted a lower price on the phone than in person. Furthermore he was impossible to reach and claimed he had not received emails. I do not know if this is typical of Leeder Management but I would not recommend Perkins Square due to it's incompetent management.

I called about their apt. building on 122 Bowdoin St. in Beacon Hill. The studios cost $900 w/ heat and hot water included, but DO NOT have a kitchen (a full fridge is provided though). The original person I spoke with was Nicole and she NEGLECTED to tell me that the studio had no kitchen. Instead she acted like a pushy bitch the entire time and seemed really disingenuous the times I talked with her.

When I called back a second time, I spoke with Meg who seems to be the manager. She was very nice and scheduled an appointment for me to see the studio. Or so I thought. When I got to the building, the super was supposed to show me the studio, but he said that wasn't aware of any appointments made. He started acting like a jack ass and getting pissed off when I tried explaining to him that I scheduled the appointment with Meg.

So in the end, I didn't get to see the studio and wasted my time going there because of Meg's incompetence. AVOID this management company AT ALL COSTS. No seems to know what the fuck they're doing and overall, there appears to be a WHOLE LOT of miscommunication.
