Each unit offers a luxurious 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a spacious 3rd-floor loft (like a 3rd bedroom). The homes are energy efficient with a sound-insulating design, provide 1,100 +/- sq ft of living space, and a small yard. Each kitchen is equipped with a self-cleaning oven, frost-free fridge, dishwasher, microwave & hood fan, and granite counter-tops.

Contacted these people about a specific rental. First we had to fill out an application for both of us and send in $60 dollars before we could even find out if the rental was available. No one returned our request. After contacting them; they said we were prime candidates with a fico score of 840. We asked when we could get a contract, and some questions about the unit.

They said they needed to contact the owner. The did not return the request again. We contacted them again as we were getting closer to the June 1st date we requested for the rental. They said the unit did not come with bedding nor linens and said the owner wanted to know if we would pay for utilities for May. We said no, why would we pay for utilities for a month before we would move in.

Once again no return answer until we contacted them. They then told us that the owner would not rent to us unless we paid the May utilities. Having no idea how much they would even cost. We reiterated why pay for something that was not ours. 1. They never return calls. 2. They have no control or rapport with their owner/clients. 3. They take your money without an effort to find another rental. 4. there is a reason they have such a low rating on Google

Word of caution if planning on renting 175 Crandall Way for the 2021-2022 School year. The laundry services they claim to have on site are currently non-functional and the repair company they use is based out of LA so they say it is hard to get them to make the trip up to SLO. When I did a virtual tour of the property I had to specifically ask to see the laundry facility, only then did the manager reveal that they weren't working (and from the looks of the laundry room had not been working for a significant amount of time).

I asked if they could guarantee that they would be fixed by move in time and they said "no" because they are "an amenity not a necessity". If you don't mind having to go to a laundromat I suppose it doesn't matter but don't count on having working laundry on site like the property description says.

The staff helped me find a unit that worked best for me. They give you a tour of the exact unit you will be living in before you make the decision to sign a lease, so you don't have to sign the lease if you have issues with the unit/price. I rented from them and was able to get my deposit back. The office staff was very helpful when I needed assistance with anything.

The maintenance staff was very quick to respond to maintenance requests. The apartment complex I lived in (Foothill Gardens) was very close to Cal Poly so there was some noise from the houses nearby, which is expected for the location. I enjoyed living there and location was an added plus. They were overall a good company to rent from.

Gave us a dirty ancient apartment. We had to clean it ourselves after moving into it. Looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The floor had a dent in it that they said they would fix. Of course they didn't. Not to mention the worst noisiest college neighbors. The only reason we rented is because we needed a place to stay for a couple months before moving into our house. But we left as soon as we could. Avoid them at all costs.

Decently helpful staff, They will always send a maintenance guy quite quickly when you request it. However, they will find a way to take half your security deposit. They claimed $130 from us to "replace a missing screen door." There was never a screen door there! Not when we first looked at the house during open house, not when we moved in, never.

When I disputed this claim, they told me "You did not indicate on your move-in walkthrough form that there was a missing screen door." Obviously! How would I have known that it was "missing" if it was never there? Why not just claim $500 from our deposit because we didn't report that there was a missing hot tub? Anyway. Scummy realtors. They'll make up anything just to steal your money.

They claimed $50 for a missing smoke detector. As if someone would actually steal that? Give me a break. You might have to deal with these guys if you wanna live off-campus. But take a picture of literally anything and everything in the entire house upon move-in and move-out, because they will rob you if you don't. Edit, in response to their reply: Yes, they did give us $130 back for the nonexistent screen door.

But only after I provided undeniable photographic proof. I was lucky to have a picture of the back door so I could show them there wasn't a screen door in front of it though; without that picture they would have easily taken the money. Because they don't care

I dropped off rent at their dropbox day before it was due. Next week they called and said I never paid and I owed them more for late fees on top of rent. Little to my knowledge they don't accept cash as rent nor did they find my rent payment. I drove down the day of, asked staff couple times if anyone at the office has received my payment. All staff said "no", I told them we need to open up a criminal investigation about this matter.

The staff walked into the back room to talk to management and within minutes they said my rent payment was found. They are all rude, unpleasant, and ran by criminals with a taste for money and fraud. Never using Mc Namara Realty ever ever again!

If I had to describe McNamara Realty in one word, I'd say they're a scam. Not only is their office terribly disorganized, no one seems to keep track of any form of communication between tenants and office staff. They have a blatant disregard for the health of their tenants; my roommate and I suffered severe health problems which we suspect was from mold that was overlooked during their cleaning process.

Expect to say goodbye to your deposit because no matter what cleaning you do or what arrangements you make, McNamara finds a way to make money off of you. Think twice before renting from this company! On second thought, don't rent from them at all!

This is a college town, with so much competition. No matter what property management company you go through, they're going to keep some of your deposit refund, that's just how it goes for living in a unit for any amount of time. After reading reviews regarding not getting their entire deposits back, it seems to me like they must be new to renting.

This is common and I wish them luck on the next management company they go through. When it comes to McNamara specifically: I love the employees who work for them- specifically in the office. They truly do their best in finding a solution to any problems that may arise, they arrange maintenance to address issues in a timely manner, and they are quick with communication.

I also have worked as a property manager, so I understand that there are so many tenants needing things, asking questions, hoping their applications get approved quickly, expecting you to remember so many details- and this office surely does what they can to get it all taken care of as soon as possible. I understand what it's like and McNamara has proven to do their best in making their tenants happy.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Many years ago, I was a tenant. I was treated horribly. The office staff was consistently rude, work was never done in a timely manner and every time I called in I was treated like I was doing something wrong. Now, I am a business owner next to a building managed by McNamara Realty. They are just as discourteous to their neighbors as they are to their tenants.

If you are renting, look elsewhere if you can. If you are a landlord, please use another company. Your tenants will thank you and I guarantee another company would take much better care of your building.

Quite Possibly The WORST Property Management Company in SLO. If you are a property owner and you are using McNamara Realty to manage your property, please consider switching to any other company. You will have a much better relationship with your tenants and with the local business owners in the community. If you are considering renting from McNamara Realty, I highly recommend looking at any and all other options before settling for their company.

We were tenants in some of their apartments for 3 years and the staff at the time treated us like they didn't trust us or believe us. We frequently requested maintenance to be done and it was seldom completed within a reasonable amount of time and the work was substandard at best (this was if the work was even completed in the first place.) The office staff was almost incredibly unfriendly - never a smile or hello when we dropped off our rent checks.

They were terrible at communicating changes to our lease, entry to our apartment, and responses to our inquiries. Now, we are business owners and our business is located next to a McNamara Realty apartment complex. We arrived at our office to find that all of our street parking had been removed by McNamara Realty painting the curb red. While the City ultimately made the decision to paint the curbs red, McNamara Realty sent out the paint crew and never once considered contacting any of the tenants (both business and residential) to let them know of this change.

We were never consulted regarding the effects this would have on our business, received no communication as to when it might happen, and not so much as a notice that it would happen at all. McNamara Realty has proven time and again that they are ineffective in managing their tenants and communicating to local residents and business owners. McNamara Realty should not be used by any resident or commercial tenant if at all possible.
