If you are thinking of hiring the Hofeller company, you should know that they will do your banking with with SouthState Bank. Federal records show SouthState Bank had one of the highest denial disparity rates in 2018 and 2019, on average, denying Black applicants three times as much as their white counterparts during that timeframe.

So I was a general contractor for 4+ years for Hofeller and in general the "screw the contractor" was reasonable. until the company experienced managers leaving. At that point Mr. Hofeller himself stepped in and decided to "intimidate " me and when he did find out the facts. no apology given and money due to me is not being paid. Unfortunately this has resulted in 8 clients of the Hofeller company now have a lien on there property. Yes, I did not get paid for 8 jobs.!. and in the community, (contractor's), that is already the word.

Just horrible. The most unprofessional and irresponsible company EVER. Charge insane amounts and provides the worst service. Only look out for their own interest which is money of course.

This company is a total trash box if you ask me. Ridiculous fines and high rates. Very poor management. Horrendous attitudes, incredibly bad service, inhumane, unreasonable charges. These guys will not hesitate filing unreasonable fines and fees for their own greed. They do best at scamming residents' money. They have the kind of greed that would fine you for being alive. Dog sheet company.

Any organization who sends out an email saying that all monthly fees are expected to be made on time and late charges will be levied for those who are not on time during this extraordinary pandemic is not only heartless but beyond the worst possible greed. There are literally people dying all around us and all they care about is their money. Disgraceful. I have no words to explain how much I would recommend you have nothing to do with them.

Run Far & Fast Honestly, not sure where to start. Nickeled and Dimed us for not breaking down a small cardboard box. $100 charges for recycling but breaking down boxes. Fines for having a car parked on the property with flashers on while moving in. Illegal $500 move-in fees for no assistance or security or help during move-in. Demands to be home at a certain time of day (on workdays) or face "fines plus fees" so they can do work on your unit.

I really could go on. I have nothing positive to say about this company. If you are looking at a building that has this company managing it, please reconsider. If you end up in a building they are managing, try to keep a low profile, break your Amazon boxes down into 2x2 inch pieces, rip off the shipping labels, move into your apartment quickly with no vehicles, walk quietly in the halls, and be available to be home any time of day any day of the week so they can clean vents. If this sounds impossible it's because it is. Run far, and fast.

Wow POS company. They reached a hole new low with me not responding quick enough after my heat and power went out to our unit. Couldn't believe the lack of communication in handling the situation. They really reached a new low with me never thought it would be so bad no heat or power in 2 condos for 17 hr on 1 of the coldest nights. It would just be great If they owned up to what was theirs instead of always blaming the owners. I don't know a single person in my building but what they did is a new low and no way to treat anybody.

My parents are being charged every month for inexplicable reasons. They and the other condo owners are afraid to challenge the property managers and the board. This company seems terrible!

A very poor company overall. They had one excellent building manager who left a while ago, what is left is truly unprofessional and irresponsible. Besides customers frequently being ignored, the projects they manage tend to have problems: from a lack of transparency in bidding to question work when all is said and done. Avoid them if you can.

Worst property management in Boston. Will raise rates on the promise of upgrades, but there won't be any upgrades. Nickel and diming and not doing their jobs.

Poor management and overpriced charge for any small paperwork needed. Good luck if you need to sell a condo they charged me over $500 for 6d and mortgage questioner form and it was delivered late, they didn't bother send it by overnight so I missed my closing. Zero star if any.

Just got off the phone with one of the assistants and I couldn't believe how rude she was. She kept interrupting me telling me to "wait" "hold on" in a very condescending tone. If she actually let me speak for a minute, she would have realized that what she was doing was a complete waste of both our times. All I wanted to do was explain my situation to her so things could get done efficiently and effectively.

If they can't spend the 30 seconds to hear me out why would I want to give them my money? Thank goodness I don't own and rent through my landlord instead. I highly recommend not purchasing property through this company due to the complete lack of compassion and customer service.

This review is based on 10 months of experience with the Hofeller Company. In this short amount of time, I have been thrilled with their communication and rapid response to even relatively minor issues. Recently, my tenants reported that the entry door to their apt. was broken, falling from the hinge. Charles, our property manager, responded to my email within minutes.

He said maintenance would be there by 1:00 p.m. to take a look. Maintenance arrived on time and the repair was completed quickly. What a contrast to the management company we stuck with for decades---we waited way too long to ditch them! Though it's only been 10 months, I am confident that The Hofeller Company will continue to meet our needs. I am impressed and delighted. What a great change!

Horrible experience with this company. Management was rude and impossible to work with. Save yourself the stress and stay far, far away.

Pretty bad customer service 90% of the time - A few years ago, I'd have given them a higher rating based on their responsiveness but with the newer staff running things, it's been horrible! My upstairs neighbor blasted her TV constantly at all hours of the night, the property manager told me there was nothing he would do and I was just being crazy. TWO police officers came and both wrote up that the noise was at unacceptable levels at 2am, had the police report and all - then the property manager and Ed Hofeller accused me of harassing the neighbor, WTF?!?!?!

I would also reiterate the comment about selling my unit, they are unresponsive to the buyer's lawyer and mortgage lender and do not respond to my emails, then they nickel and dime you for everything. I would avoid buying a condo in a property managed by them at all costs.

I've suffered quite enough after living in a building managed by Hofeller for a number of years now. Never mind that management fees are over-the-roof, but the level of service is often sub-par and slow. Yes, we'd had all units in the building be put in lien by the town because Hofeller did not pay our bills on time, never mind that if we don't pay management fees on time, we have to pay our "late fees." Yes, we've had Hofeller (both the various condo managers and Ed Hofeller himself) thrashed the owners in condo meetings just because those owners asked reasonable questions about transparency, billing, and general operations. Yes, we've also had our fair share of slow response and lasidasical handling from the Hofeller staffing because they are "too busy." It's unprofessional and pathetic. Next time, I'll run as far away as possible if I see the property is under their management.

Hofeller is the worst! The clowns that work there are lazy jerks who could care less about the living conditions of its tenants. Here are some examples of how little they care: -When I first moved in, they refused to update my name on the buzzer because that would require typing all the names again and they did not want to do that. They told me to just tell my friends and family to buzz the name of the previous tenant. Um, here's an idea: save it as a word document so when someone moves, you can just change one name.

Not wanting to type a bunch of names isn't really an excuse, is it? -Another tenant in my building had problems with a pipe making noise inside their apartment. They began complaining in October. The first time someone from Hofeller walked into the apartment was JANUARY of the following year. Why? Because of the holidays. That's right, due to the fact that Thanksgiving and Christmas fall during those two months of the year, nothing can happen inside their properties. -They don't return phone calls in a timely fashion at all, regardless of the content of the message. If I were looking at a home or apartment and saw the Hofeller name in the lobby, it would be enough to send me running.

I have always had a good experience with the Hofeller Co., every time that a maintenance issue has appeared in my condominium building, I have been able to reach someone that took care of the situation in a promptly manner.

I can't speak for the whole company, but their property manager Bill Rubin is a bit of a nightmare. He is not a trustworthy person. Also, any company that self-deals (ie. they have an in-house maintenance, cleaning and contracting company) needs to be very transparent about the work they do. Since my interaction was only with Bill, I can only say that he was the opposite of transparent. Worse, he used pressure tactics to try to get me to use their contracting company for work that was clearly in my rights to hire whoever I wanted.

I gave Hofeller an opportunity to quote on the job but I didn't choose them because I didn't feel any confidence that the job would be done well, and I worried that I wouldn't be able to trust them. The maintenance work they did do around our condo was of poor quality, and high cost. I know that there are not a lot of options out there for small associations, but you can do better.

Not the best property managers.not quite the worst. Nice guys and. try to do their best but just take on too many projects and end up not giving you attention you deserve. Only way to get their attention is to have them manage an expensive job at your site for a cut of the action. Like most management companies, bilking you for $$$$ every step of the way. Really have been pretty disappointed and thinking about dropping them.
